• Website content. We try to keep this website accurate and up to date, but it is provided for general information only, “as is”, without any guarantee or warranty. Features described here may change, may not be available in every country or on every device, and may differ between app versions.

Acceptable use

Burner is for private, lawful communication. The full rules are in section 5 of the Terms and, for channels, in the channel creator terms. In short, never use Burner for:

• child sexual abuse material or any sexual content involving minors — zero tolerance: accounts are banned and reported to the authorities (in the US, NCMEC);
• illegal goods or services (drugs, weapons, stolen goods or data);
• terrorism or violent extremism;
• harassment, threats, hate speech, doxxing or non-consensual intimate images;
• spam, scams, phishing or malware;
• impersonation or infringing other people’s rights.

To report abuse, use “Report” in the app or email support@burnerchat.ai. If someone is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first.

Copyright & DMCA

We respect intellectual property rights and respond to clear notices of alleged infringement, including under the US Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) and the EU Digital Services Act. Because chats are end-to-end encrypted, we can generally act only on content we can see — such as channel posts, profiles and usernames — or content that is reported to us.

Sending a notice

Email legal@burnerchat.ai with the subject “Copyright notice” and include:

1. your name, address, phone number and email address;
2. a description of the copyrighted work you believe is infringed;
3. where the material is in Burner (for example the channel name and a link or screenshot of the post, or the username), with enough detail for us to find it;
4. a statement that you believe in good faith that the use isn’t authorised by the copyright owner, its agent or the law;
5. a statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorised to act on their behalf;
6. your physical or electronic signature.

Counter-notice

If your content was removed and you believe it was a mistake or misidentification, you can send a counter-notice to the same address, including your contact details, the removed material and where it appeared, a statement under penalty of perjury that you believe in good faith it was removed by mistake, your consent to the jurisdiction of the appropriate courts, and your signature. We may forward it to the person who sent the original notice.

Repeat infringers

We terminate the accounts of users who repeatedly infringe others’ rights. Sending deliberately false notices may make you liable for damages.

Law enforcement requests

What we have — and what we don’t

Burner is built to hold as little as possible. One-to-one and group messages are end-to-end encrypted and relayed: we can’t read them, and we delete them once delivered (except messages a user has secured, which we hold only in encrypted form). Burner AI and translation run on users’ phones. Depending on the account, we may hold: the username and profile; account creation date; a verified phone number (if the user added one); connection and group membership information; call history; limited recent server logs; channel content (which is public and not end-to-end encrypted); and mail that has not yet been fetched by the user’s phone. The Privacy Policy describes this in full.

How we respond

• We disclose user information only in response to valid legal process appropriate to the jurisdiction (such as a subpoena, court order or search warrant), and we may push back on requests that are overly broad, unclear or unlawful.
• Requests must come from an official government or law enforcement email address and be sent to legal@burnerchat.ai with the subject “Law enforcement request”. Please identify the account by its username and state the legal basis, the specific data requested and the time period.
• Preservation: we will preserve available data for 90 days on receipt of a valid preservation request, while formal process is obtained. Because of relay deletion, data that no longer exists cannot be preserved.
• Emergencies: if there is an imminent risk of death or serious physical injury, we may disclose limited information without legal process. Mark the email “EMERGENCY” and explain the emergency.
• User notice: we will notify affected users before disclosing their data, unless the law prohibits it or it would create a risk of harm or be counterproductive in an emergency.
• Child safety: we proactively report apparent child sexual abuse material to the relevant authorities (in the US, NCMEC), as described in our Terms and channel creator terms.
